The Formula 24 and 24+ teams had their first outing of the season last weekend at Castle Combe race track in Wiltshire.

Over the past few months the teams have totally stripped and rebuilt the car, which is fondly names The Stag, making improvements and changes to the design based on their learnings from the previous season.

At Castle Combe, both teams set new lap records for The Stag. Harrison Green drove in the F24 race which is open to teams aged between 11 and 16 years. He came 15th out of 54 and beat the previous DGS lap record by 24 seconds.

The F24+ team for our older students saw James Neiland in the racing seat for the first time. He came 10th out of 18th and also beat the previous DGS lap record by 10 seconds.

Mr Lakritz, Head of Design and Technology and co-ordinator for the F24/24+ teams said: “The increase in speed this year has been fantastic. It’s created a real buzz amongst the team. Other teams also noticed what improvements we’ve made since last year and came over to find out how we’d done it!”

The teams are now looking forward to their next outing in early July.
