Two Bournemouth Collegiate School pupils represented their home county of Dorset at the South West County Badminton match against Cornwall at the weekend. Freyja Charles and Mia Owen faced the Cornish side in the U18 and U14 teams respectively; both proving ultimately victorious. Despite the odds being stacked against the girls' teams, with members unable to play due to illness, Dorset ultimately won the U18 pairing 20 V 16, and the U14 23 V 13.

Richard Harrison-Poole, Director of Sport at Bournemouth Collegiate School said: "This is a fantastic result for our pupils - they showed tenacity and determination by battling back from 12 matches down (through no fault of their own) to end with resounding wins. Well done to both!"

Head, Russell Slatford, added: "BCS has a longstanding sporting tradition, and we are delighted that this includes less traditional sports such as badminton. I am thrilled for Freyja and Mia who have shown incredible dedication to their craft, with great success."
