Choir Sings Charitable Note

Twenty members of Moreton Hall’s Chamber Choir and Head Girl joined stars from stage and screen when they attended the prestigious Carol Service at Christ Church in Chelsea, in aid of charity F.A.I.R. (Funding Auto-Immune Research).

The annual event in London witnessed an impressive line-up of actors and broadcasters, including; Dame Penelope Keith (from ‘To a Manor Born’ and ‘The Good Life’), Downtown Abbey’s Douglas Reith, Dr Who’s Dervla Kirwan, and Hugh Fraser, Poirot’s trusted side-kick.

Parent, Ruth Longfellow said, “Our girls sang beautifully to packed pews, beginning with ‘Hodie’, sung from the church gallery, to create an atmospheric entrance.

“A multitude of famous names, including Dame Penelope Keith, delivered readings between the Christmas carols, all with professional aplomb.”

Moreton Hall Registrar and Trustee of F.A.I.R., Mrs Dennison, gave a heartfelt address to a full audience and explained the aims of F.A.I.R., to raise money to facilitate much needed research into the causes and treatments of Auto-Immune Diseases which affects people worldwide.

Ms Longfellow continued, “The girls were perfect ambassadors for Moreton Hall. It was a wonderful evening and an excellent start to the Festive Season.”

Helen Rayner, Director of Music at Moreton Hall, said, “It is a true privilege to be involved in this prestigious event. The concert was truly exhilarating and was extremely well received by a huge appreciative audience.”

The evening concluded with mulled wine and homemade mince pies at the back of the Church.
