Derby Grammar Celebrates Outstanding A Level Results

There has been a large increase in the number of top A-level grades at Derby Grammar School this year.

There has been a large increase in the number of top A-level grades at Derby Grammar School this year.

A total of 31% of grades are A*/A. 60% of grades are A*- B and 78% A*-C.

Five students achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades. Elliot, with his 3 A*s is off to study Physics at Manchester University. Arvin, Raj and Luca will all study medicine at Birmingham, Manchester and Imperial College respectively. And Sarim is off to study PPE at LSE.

In Mathematics and Further Mathematics, 44% of grades are A*- A. In Physics, Chemistry and Biology, 49% of grades are A*-B and almost half of all grades in STEM subjects are A*-C.

Dr Ruth Norris, Head of Derby Grammar School, said: “I am extremely proud of the achievements of our pupils. This has been down to their hard work and the outstanding expertise of our teaching staff.

“I am particularly proud of the significant increase in the achievement of the top grades, A* and A. With the world of university admissions becoming increasingly competitive, our pupils are ever better placed to succeed.
