Prep school pupils at Moreton First raised over £480 during The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research.
Moreton First, in Oswestry, invited parents, grandparents and teachers to join them and enjoy a wide selection of home baked cakes, cupcakes and scones over a cup of coffee and a chat, whilst raising vital funds for a well-known charity.
Mrs Catherine Ford, Headteacher at Moreton First said, “We were overwhelmed by the number and variety of cakes brought into school. We were delighted to taste Chinese moon cakes that were made by Hedy and her mum to celebrate this week’s Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. I would like to thank everyone who came along and supported our event and helped make it the success it was for a charity so close to our hearts.”
The children proudly raised a large sum of money and presented their donation to Macmillan’s Fundraising representative Kate Thomas who shared news with the fundraisers on how their contribution will help to make a difference to support the lives of people locally living with cancer.
Kate Thomas, Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Manager for Shropshire said, "I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff and pupils at Moreton First for holding their coffee morning in aid of Macmillan to help us provide the support, tools and inspiration for people affected by cancer. Our ambition is to be here to help everyone affected by cancer to find the best way through from the moment of diagnosis to live life as fully as you can."
