Track and Field champs take up the challenge

WGS took 30 athletes to compete in the Cambridgeshire AA Championships at the Embankment Stadium, Peterborough and performed outstandingly.

Wisbech Grammar School pupils performed outstandingly - winning podium places and breaking school records - when they took 30 athletes  to compete in the Cambridgeshire AA Championships at the Embankment Stadium, Peterborough.

There were several outstanding performances at the event on May 12 with WGS Personal Best times set in all age groups. We would like to congratulate all the pupils who took part in the competition.

The following pupils gained medals in their events:

County Champions  - Gold Medal

U13 Shot – Alfie Hoyles, 8.92m (Sutton Bridge, Spalding)

U13 High Jump – Freddie Allen, 1.40m (March, Cambs)

U13 Long Jump – Lewis Wing, 4.44m (Wisbech)

U15 Shot – Emily Thomas, 8.99m (March)

U15 100m – Ethan Jones, 12.44s (March)

 

2nd Place – Silver Medal

U13 Long Jump – Freddie Allen, 4.41m (March)

U13 Hurdles – Harrison Smith, 15.58s (Friday Bridge)

U15 300m – Oliver Coles, 41.15s (Walton Highway)

U15 Shot – Harvey King, 10.36m (Long Sutton)

U17 Discus – Aimee Newman 17.17m (Hunstanton)

 

3rd Place – Bronze Medal

U13 100m – Lewis Wing, 13.50s (Wisbech)

U15 Triple Jump – Lucy Prior, 8.77m (West Walton)

U15 Discus – Hannah Smith, 17.00m (Friday Bridge)

U17 Shot – George Dady, 10.69m (Wisbech)
