Two Royal Prep School pupils make marmalade to brighten breakfasts

Two pupils at The Royal Prep School in Hindhead made jars of marmalade in half term to donate to the Haslemere Food Bank. Ollie (age 5) was chief cook and Lily (age 9) was in charge of decorating the jars.

Lily and Ollie, pupils at The Royal Prep School in Hindhead, had the lovely idea of making marmalade in half term to donate to the Haslemere Food Bank to brighten up people’s breakfasts.

Ollie (age 5) was chief cook and commented that he’s going to have big muscles after squeezing all the oranges!

Lily (age 9) was in charge of decorating and spent a lot of time and effort in making labels and decorating the jars.

The children worked really well as a team and were very proud to drop off their marmalade at the Food Bank.

Mrs Kerrie Daunter, Head of The Royal Prep School said: "We talk a lot at school about the importance of kindness and how it is possible for everyone, no matter how big, small, young or old, to have the ability, and the power to make a positive difference to the lives of others.

"What makes this initiative particularly special is that it was conceived and led entirely by Lily and Oliver in their own time at home with the support of their parents.

"I am extremely proud of Lily and Oliver for doing such good in the community, especially at a time like this when it is more important than ever to bring a little sunshine into other people's lives."
