London Heads are invited to dance to raise funds for disabilities charity

More House School in Knightsbridge and St Paul's Cathedral School have launched the London Heads' Dance Society to raise money for charity, icandance. Heads are invited to don their sequins to dazzle on the dance floor for an event in June 2022.

More House School in Knightsbridge and St Paul's Cathedral School have joined forces to launch the London Heads' Dance Society.

In a unique, one-off event, Heads are invited to don their sequins to dazzle on the dance floor in a 'Strictly Heads' event in June 2022.

The initiative is raising funds for the London-based charity icandance who give children and young people with disabilities the chance to dance.

Heads will be asked to attend just seven dance classes across the academic year in preparation for the main event on 30th June.

The dance sessions will be taught by a team of professional coaches from Dakoda’s Dance Academy with the classes taking place at More House.

Faith Hagerty, Head of More House, and organiser of the event said: "Our role as Headteachers is to ensure ALL children have a chance to thrive.

"We are putting our dignity to one side for one evening because we feel strongly that icandance is a vital resource for young people."

She continued: "In the pandemic, many disabled children lost the chance to socialise and express themselves because they had to shield.

"We want to help them emerge confident and happy.”

Simon Larter–Evans, ex-dancer and Head of St Paul’s Cathedral School, who is also collaborating on the project, said: "I am thrilled to be dancing again for such a wonderful cause.

"We need lots of Heads to get involved and raise essential funds for this fantastic cause."

They are delighted to announce that they currently have Heads from the following schools taking part: Dolphin School, St Margaret’s School, Halliford School, Sydenham High School, Prince’s Gardens Prep, Wandsworth Prep, St Augustine’s Priory, Oratory Primary School, Thomas’s Kensington, Lochinver House, Maltman's Green, Channing, Maida Vale School, Paddock Wood and Willington Prep, with more welcome to join.
