Claremont Fan Court pupil wins national award for Fashion Design

Daisy Newton, a Year 11 pupil from Claremont Fan Court School in Esher won the Young Fashion Designer UK competition at the end of June.

Daisy Newton, a Year 11 pupil from Claremont Fan Court School in Esher won the Young Fashion Designer UK competition at the end of June.

Daisy was one of 175 applicants from across the midlands and south of England to seek shortlisting for the Kent College final. Daisy was initially placed as a reserve, but in spite of limited notice, she rose to the occasion and was the ultimate winner; wowing the fashion industry judges through interviews and her portfolio.

Daisy, who plans to study A level textiles in September, was ecstatic with her success, and will proudly display her final pieces once GCSE results are published. Her headmaster, Mr William Brierly, commented: “we are so proud of Daisy; she has demonstrated tremendous hard graft, talent and determination to reach this well-deserved success.”
