To officially draw the 2016/17 school year to a close we held our annual Speech Day celebrations on Saturday 1st July. The school grounds, pupils and guests were bathed in glorious sunshine, adding to the joyful atmosphere. Each year the event formally marks the last day of school, and is an opportunity for pupils, parents, staff and alumni to gather and reflect on the successes, activities and academic accomplishments achieved throughout the year.

The day began with musical performances from our talented pupils in the marquee and followed with a lovely chapel service where the whole school and community gathered together to give thanks for a successful year.

Following a picnic and catered lunch guests and pupils gathered to hear Headmaster, Nick Seward give his address, reminiscing about some of the highlights and achievements of the past school year. Pupils from across all year groups were then presented with their awards by our invited guest speaker, Air Vice-Marshal Malcolm Brecht, CB, MA, FRAes, RAF.

It was a pleasure to welcome back Kingham Hill Alumni Malcolm, who entertained and inspired our guests with his reflections on life at the school and how it has influenced his illustrious career.

The day was completed with the annual pupil vs Hillians cricket match supported by many guests who enjoyed a wonderful Parisian themed afternoon tea. Congratulations to the Barings XI team who won a close match and Man of the Match, Year 10 pupil Luke.

Following a successful day the celebrations rolled into the evening with our Midnight in Paris Summer Ball. Sixth Formers, parents, Hillians and staff all arrived in their chicest attire and were treated to some canapes before enjoying a three course dinner, finishing it off with a mighty croquembouche tower. The night was perfectly finished with dancing to live band, The Mississippi Swamp Dogs.
