Kingswood House in Peter Pan

Performance at NESCOT first ever performance to include flying actors. A cast of forty eight boys from the independent school for boys, Kingswood House, Epsom, experienced the thrill of appearing on the stage in front of a sell out, several-hundred strong audience during their performance of Peter Pan.

A cast of forty eight boys from the independent school for boys, Kingswood House, have experienced the thrill of appearing on the stage in front of a sell out, several-hundred strong audience. Taking part in a ground-breaking production of Peter Pan at the Adrian Mann Theatre, NESCOT, last Thursday and Friday evenings, this was the first time Kingswood House School had flown the actors and the first time anyone has ever flown at the theatre.  And there was no shortage of support from family and friends, with 200 tickets sold each night to Kingswood House pupils’ families and friends!

Aged from eleven to thirteen, the boys had been rehearsing since the start of the academic year with leading roles taken by:

Caleb Poulson (Captain Hook) Year 8 and final role at KHS;  Will Hannah (Peter Pan) and Caelan Landers (Wendy) both Year 6 and their first role in a Senior Production; Jude Poulson and Parth Gupta (John and Michael) were the two other boys who flew.  The flying was co-ordinated and operated by Kingswood House staff with the help of the boys fathers’. All the costumes, scenery and make up was created by members of staff.

Planning has already started for next year’s performance. In addition there will be a Senior Production which will be a new venture for Kingswood House as it will involve new Year 9 pupils who join in September 2016 as Kingswood House begins to teach Senior Years.  This will act as the introduction to Drama GCSE being offered for the first time.

“The goal at Kingswood House School is to not only focus on developing the academic achievements of our pupils, but help them identify their special interests to give them the best possible start in life” commented Peter Brooks, Headmaster.  “The forty eight boys who took part in this event have been given a real taste of performing on the stage, the memories of which I am sure will stay with them for years.”
