Working in partnership with JCDecaux, the signs were installed just prior to the start of the new school year, ready for pupils arriving by train for their first day on Monday 3rd September.

Marden Station provides easy access to Bethany School’s impressive, rural 60 acre campus just south of Marden, and a number of pupils travel to school each day by train from Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Orpington, London and Folkestone, being collected for the short journey from the station by one of the School’s fleet of minibuses.

With over 400,000 people travelling through Marden Station each year, including Bethany School pupils and visitors, the new signs let visitors know that they have arrived at the correct stop for the School. It is also hoped that the signs will help put Bethany ‘on the map’ with other rail travellers who may not be aware that there is an excellent independent senior school just three miles away!

Headmaster, Francie Healy – pictured with pupils Elsa Taylor, Year 7, and Rory Neville, Year 9, who travel to the School from Marden every day – was delighted to unveil the new signs, saying: “I am very pleased that Marden Station is now known officially as ‘the home of Bethany School’. We are very fortunate to have a mainline railway station within three miles of our School, giving easy access to London and the south coast, and providing stress free travel for pupils and staff from surrounding towns. Bethany School has been located just outside Marden for over 150 years and I hope that these new signs will help encourage more people to discover all the opportunities that we offer.”
