Parents’ Association gift reusable water bottles to all pupils at Rendcomb

Rendcomb College Parents’ Association have come up with the great initiative to give every child at the school a reusable water bottle after the College’s Eco Committee recently proposed that plastic bottles should no longer be used at the school.

Rendcomb College’s Eco Committee recently proposed that plastic bottles should no longer be used at school as they felt it was an area which could be improved upon. The school agreed to phase out the use of plastic bottles at the end of last term. Rendcomb College Parents’ Association then came up with the great initiative to give every child at the school a reusable water bottle. All pupils, staff and parents are very keen to help reduce waste and maximise sustainability wherever they can.

The Chair of the Rendcomb College Parents’ Association (RCPA), Zoe Wolton said: “The RCPA is delighted to support the College’s eco-initiatives in its centenary year by presenting every child, aged 3-18 in the Junior and Senior School with a vacuum insulated stainless steel water bottle. It will dramatically help to reduce our single-use plastic within our school community.”

Head of College, Rob Jones stated: “We are extremely grateful to the RCPA for their kind support of the College’s Eco-initiatives. In our Centenary year, it is clear that Rendcomb is staying true to the Founder’s vision of a ‘social, moral and intellectual education’ and I am incredibly proud of our pupils who are spearheading our drive to take a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach.”

Staff member of the Eco Committee, George Toms commented: “It has been so rewarding working with the students on the Eco Committee and seeing their engagement and enthusiasm to make a real impact. The refillable bottles are brilliant because they show what can happen when a school community comes together: parents, staff and students all working towards a common goal.”

Rendcomb College Eco Committee have lots more ideas in the pipeline to ensure that Rendcomb College continues to be a greener and more sustainable school. They are currently working towards achieving the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award. The Eco-Schools Award is an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning.
