Pupils go wild for Wig Wednesday

Bellan House pupils have raised a phenomenal £2,236.93 for CLIC Sargent, a charity offering cancer support for the young, by holding their own Wig Wednesday.

Along with wearing wigs to school the children went for a Wig Walk in Cae Glas Park, enjoyed wiggy games throughout the day and had a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.

Bellan House parent and cancer survivor, Catherine Pritchard, organised the event.  Catherine was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer last April and since then has had chemotherapy and successful surgery.  Wanting to raise awareness of cancer and wigs (Catherine wears one!) the day was to encourage children and adults to see wigs as a positive part of the recovery process and not be afraid of the word 'cancer'.

Thanks go to local businesses including Toni & Guy, The Beauty Suite at the Wynnstay Hotel, Butterfly Boutique, Out of Town, Pickles, the Heritage Centre, Wilsons, the Townhouse, Osbourne books and It&ly Hair & Beauty who donated some fantastic prizes towards this worthy cause.
