Today, The Royal School celebrates the hard work and commitment of its Year 11 pupils, which has resulted in strong results across all subjects. Their grades are a real credit to them and we look forward to building on their successes as they embark on a wide range of A level courses.

Mrs Pippa Smithson, Head at The Royal School commented: “When schools had to close, these Year 11 pupils suddenly had no exams to study for; it was a strange anti-climax for them. However, they remained motivated with their eyes on the future. They are a bright and engaging year group and their interest in the various A level transition programmes was testament to that. Many relished the opportunity to focus on their favourite subjects and will undoubtedly go on to achieve highly at A level. I am really looking forward to welcoming them back to join our Sixth Form in September.“

As a proudly mixed ability school, The Royal is academically ambitious for all its pupils. In this extraordinary year, pupils performed well across the curriculum and their excellent set of results are in line with the high academic standards characteristic of The Royal School.

Among the many success stories are two sets of twins! Suzy (the first Royal School Laureate who has written some wonderful poems for the school) and Nell D are looking forward to pursuing their joint love of English and Drama at A level at The Royal School’s Sixth Form, while Ben and Mia K will join them to study Biology and Chemistry alongside other subjects. Other high performers include Kate C, Toby M and Tilly S, who will also be joining the school’s Sixth Form. As a talented actor, Toby will be combining an A level in Drama with Chemistry, Maths and Physics; Kate will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Geography and Tilly (a dedicated show jumper who would have competed at the NSEA show jumping championship final at Hickstead this year) will study Economics, Geography, History and Psychology.

Many of this year’s GCSE pupils are now looking forward to joining The Royal School’s excellent Sixth Form, where they will study a broad range of subjects in small classes with an increasingly independent approach to learning. Ms Cerian Parker-Yeates, Head of Sixth Form, said, “Many congratulations to all of our students on their great GCSE results. The Royal School Sixth Form team is looking forward to warmly welcoming returning and new students in September. The Royal Sixth Form is all about encouraging high expectations to facilitate holistic achievement for all of our learners and we are excited to get started with the fantastic programme we have developed for our Year 12s and 13s.”
